“Cánh Phú Hậu”, or side winged blouse, used to be worn only by male officials in court. Keeping the image of butterfly umbrella in mind. Pattern making process was dedicated to imitate the wings without making it too geometrical and/or obvious.

“Thường” hat and “Tấc” blouse were the common pair of items you would see in women and common folk in Viet History. Layering with scarves and undershirt, while also disheveled and all rolled up, wrinkled while farming.

Inspiration & Sketches
Leaf and straw weaving for daily household item and agriculture, “Áo Rơm" to wear for both sunny days and rain season. These are well-known to be associated with lower and heavy labour working class.
Along that, jumpsuit in Western society is also associated with labour workers.
Mock-up sample with
leather and feathers.
To twist the class disparity, denim and rough cotton is now soft linen, leaf and straw is now feather. With “Nhật Bình” squared neck, that belong to the aristocrat in Vietnam history.
